I love my music. I love it so so much. I love scrolling through my big list of all of the albums I have on my computer and looking at all the covers that go by. The maintenance and expansion of my collection is one of my key tasks on my computer. I get a song stuck in my head or someone recommends something to me and I go home, download the album, and put it on. Even though I use streaming services when I'm not at home, the care and dedication that goes into my music collection stays in my mind. It's so much
easier to find something to put on when I have a limited list of albums. The limitation makes so much more creativity, and forces me to listen to things I haven't heard in a while. There's something about the alphabetical list that makes me feel powerful and in control in a way that not many things do, in this world populated by algorithms and infinite feeds. I have a lot of albums downloaded that I haven't listened to in full yet; every time I get on my computer I can choose novelty, which gives my choice of repetition even more impact. Plus, I have unreleased albums, I have albums that aren't on streaming, bootlegs, illegal remixes, everything that I could desire! Of course, all of the music is downloaded with dubious legality, but that honestly makes me feel better about it. I downloaded the music from someone else's computer who decided, willfully, to share their music with the entire world! That's cooperation right there.
